World’s First Vertical Cable Car-Take a Ride!

According to Jetsetter.com, Twenty dollars doesn’t go very far in 2016, but starting today, it can buy you a ride on the world’s first vertical cable car and the tallest moving observation tower.

Brought to you by the same husband and wife duo behind the iconic London Eye, the British Airways i360 promises just as epic views, only this time of Sussex.

Visitors to the attraction ride an aerodynamic glass pod – a cool 10x the size of a single London Eye capsule – 450 feet into the air. The journey up takes 20 to 30 minutes, lugging along 200 people a pop.

On your way up, you’ll take in 26 glorious miles of panoramic views. We’re talking greater Brighton, Hove and the Sussex coastline, AKA chalk cliffs, the rugged stretch that is South Downs National Park, and the area’s grand Regency architecture.

Once at the tippity top you can grab a glass of bubbly from the Nyetimber Sky Bar or pull out your smartphone to learn more about your surroundings. Download the free multilingual British Airways i360 app and pull up “The View” for detailed info on all of the major buildings in sight.

Soon, the attraction will also be adding a slew of fine dining options. The beach-side Belle Vue Restaurant will serve an array of local dishes under the direction of head chef Steven Edwards, winner of MasterChef: The Professionals. There’ll be a super casual beach cafe, and you’ll also find traditional tea rooms on King’s Road, housed in the reconstructed (circa-1866) West Pier toll booth. Stay tuned on their openings here.
