Universal has officially announced the return of King Kong to Universal Orlando Resort. Continue on to learn more.
While it was exciting to have confirmation, no details – unfortunately – were offered on the call, leaving us still mostly in the dark on the King’s repeat appearance… until today. Universal itself has now officially announced the return of King Kong, supplying some additional details on what to expect.
To sort through it all, we’ve compiled a general primer on what will be Universal Orlando’s next big E-ticket experience, which we’ll continue to update as more information is officially announced or otherwise confirmed.
What has been officially confirmed by Universal?
Just the basics: the new attraction’s name, release window (no specific date yet – sorry!), and a few pieces of fantastic-looking concept art. Oh, yeah-there’s also the little fact that Universal confirmed it’ll be a whole new island at Islands of Adventure, to boot.
What is the ride called?
Skull Island: Reign of Kong.
When will it open?
Summer of 2016, most likely in June when new rides typically debut (in order to meet the high traffic of the summer/holiday crowds). Some leaked information seems to suggest that Universal may have initially wanted the attraction to bow in 2015-which would explain the crazily expedited pace of the new “island’s” construction thus far-but it’s definitely been pushed back since then.
