  • From 1971 to 1982, Disney’s Magic Kingdom offered ticket books that categorized attractions based on an “A” to “E” scale. E tickets were used for the eight most popular Magic Kingdom attractions: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain.
  • Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1874 Harry Packer Mansion in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, served as the inspiration for the Haunted Mansion.
  • The Omnimover vehicles used for the Haunted Mansion are nicknamed “Doom Buggies.”
  • According to legend, a total of 999 ghosts inhabit the Haunted Mansion (“. . . there’s always room for one more!”).
  • Legendary voice actor Paul Frees (1920-86) provided the voice for the “Ghost Host” at the Haunted Mansion – “Welcome, foolish mortals . . .” Frees also provided the voices of such memorable characters as the Jolly Green Giant’s sidekick, Little Green Sprout; Professor Ludwig von Drake, Donald Duck’s uncle; and Burgermeister Meisterburger in Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, among many others.
  • Composed by Buddy Baker with lyrics by X Atencio, “Grim Grinning Ghosts (The Screaming Song)” is the theme song of the Haunted Mansion.
  • Some of the humorous epitaphs in the small Haunted Mansion graveyard include: “R.I.P. Mister Sewell/the victim of/a dirty duel/Peaceful rest”; “Here lies/good old Fred/a great big rock/fell on his head/R.I.P.”; and “Dear departed/Brother Dave/he chased a bear/into a cave”.
  • As you exit the Haunted Mansion attraction, note the names on the crypts such as Asher T. Ashes, Dustin T. Dust, Manny Festation, Pearl E. Gates, Rustin Peese and I.M. Ready, among others.
  • Outside the Haunted Mansion lies the pet cemetery, which features a headstone of Mr. Toad – a tribute to the Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride attraction in Fantasyland that closed in 1998.
  • The Haunted Mansion is the only major attraction to appear in a different land in each Disney theme park: Liberty Square at Disney World, New Orleans Square at Disneyland, Fantasyland at Tokyo Disneyland and Frontierland at Disneyland Paris (where it is called Phantom Manor).
