Tour the home and outbuildings that once served as the residence of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (1896-1953), the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Yearling, as well as South Moon Under, Golden Apples, When the Whippoorwill, Cross Creek and The Sojourner. The historic site, a National Historic Landmark, is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Cross Creek is located Northwest of Orlando between Ocala and Gainesville. RICH’S TRIVIA: In 2008, the United States Postal Service released a commemorative stamp honoring Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings and the literary arts. In 2013, the park celebrated “The Year of The Yearling in honor of the 75th anniversary of the publication of The Yearling in April 1938.
