An open-sided, 32-passenger safari jeep takes you on a fascinating adventure through the 100-acre “Harambe Reserve” in the remotest regions of Africa during Kilimanjaro Safaris, where you can view some of the earth’s most incredible creatures such as African elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos, lions, warthogs, wildebeests, ostriches, crocodiles, baboons and more (but watch out for poachers along the way)!
Kilimanjaro Safaris is located in Africa, along with Rafiki’s Planet Watch and Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. Africa itself lies Northwest of the Tree of Life.
Note: Kilimanjaro Safaris is a FASTPASS attraction. Don’t forget to bring your camera along. Please note the health restrictions posted at the entrance to the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride.
KILIMANJARO SAFARIS REVIEW: Kilimanjaro Safaris is definitely a must-see attraction for your visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. If you hit the attraction during the mid-afternoon, the animals will be more active (or so I’ve heard). Also, your Kilimanjaro Safaris experience will either be enhanced or diminished by the enthusiasm of your tour guide/driver. One time I took the safari and the tour guide acted totally bored with the whole thing – like she was just reading lines. Another uninteresting part of the whole safari is the “dramatic” episode with the poachers – really contrived and more of a distraction from the whole Kilimanjaro Safaris experience, in my opinion.
