Carousel of Progress - Tomorrowland - Disney's Magic Kingdom Park
Nestled in the far Southern edge of Tomorrowland, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, which opened at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park in 1975, provides a fun-filled journey through the 20th century – revealing all the amazing technological changes made along the way. The air-conditioned, 250-seat theater revolves around a total of six stages during the 22-minute presentation, which features audio-animatronic figures (including Rover the dog!), along with the theme song, “It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
The Carousel of Progress, was originally created by Walt Disney for the 1964 New York World’s Fair to dramatize electricity’s role in “bettering man’s living conditions.” It was reportedly one of Disney’s favorite attractions. General Electric served as the original sponsor of the attraction, which opened at Disneyland in 1967 but was moved to Disney World in 1973 and reopened as a new Tomorrowland attraction in 1975 with the theme song, “The Best Time of Your Life.”
Note: The Carousel of Progress is wheelchair accessible.
