Originally known as Disney-MGM Studios, Disney's Hollywood Studios opened on May 1, 1989 as the third theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. Disney's Hollywood Studios encompasses 135 acres and showcases the incredible history of Hollywood movies with attractions, thrill rides and live shows. The Disney World theme park drew an estimated 9.10 million visitors in 2006 - up 5 percent over the previous year.

Many Disney's Hollywood Studios specialty shops can be found along Hollywood Boulevard, the main gateway to the theme park. Seasonal events at Disney's Hollywood Studios include Star Wars Weekends from mid-May to mid-June, Night of Joy in early September and the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights throughout the winter holidays, among others.

Known for its “ Earffel Tower” and immense Sorcerer’s Hat icons, Disney's Hollywood Studios is typically open daily at 9 AM (seasonal hours; call ahead before visiting).
