Expedition Everest - Asia - Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
One of the newest attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Expedition Everest is a high-speed train adventure that combines roller coaster-like thrills with a theme based on the folklore of the ferocious yeti or abominable snowman – known as the “Guardian of the Himalayas.”
Guests board an old mountain railway and travel through thick bamboo forests and past beautiful waterfalls on their way to the foot of 29,028-foot Mount Everest (Disney’s Everest towers approximately 200 feet over the theme park!). However, things go terribly wrong (as they always do!) and the track ends “in a gnarled mass of twisted metal” as the train races through mountain caverns and icy canyons toward a face-to-face showdown with the mysterious yeti.
Arguably the most popular attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Expedition Everest draws long lines throughout the day. However, FASTPASS is available and advised for this ride.
Note: You must be at least 44 inches tall to experience Expedition Everest. In addition, check out the health restrictions that are posted at the entrance of this thrill ride.
EXPEDITION EVEREST REVIEW: Although Expedition Everest has only been open since April 2006, it has already achieved classic ride status - up there with Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror.
