Islands of Adventure Thrill Rides
Highlights of Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure include Incredible Hulk Coaster, which soars to the sky from zero to 40 miles per hour in just two seconds; The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, which allows you to follow the webbed crusader on a fun adventure high above the city; Dueling Dragons, the world’s first inverted, dueling roller coasters; Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls, an exciting water ride that plummets down a huge waterfall; Jurassic Park River Adventure, an amazing river raft ride; Poseidon’s Fury: Escape from the Lost City; The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad, a live adventure that features Sinbad, his sidekick Kabo and the beautiful Princess Amoura; and Doctor Doom’s Fearfall, where you rocket 150 feet up in the air and then hurl back down to Earth.
Islands of Adventure Attractions
Kids of all ages will enjoy the following attractions: The Cat in the Hat, Caro-Seuss-el, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges, Camp Jurassic play area, Pteranodon Flyers, If I Ran the Zoo play area and Jurassic Park Discovery Center. Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure also hosts a variety of annual events, including Halloween Horror Nights and Grinchmas, where the classic Dr. Seuss story of the Grinch comes to life with events such as the Whoville Whobilation musical show, tree-lighting ceremony and much more.
Islands of Adventure Dining
Plenty of specialty shops, souvenir stands and eateries can be found throughout Islands of Adventure, as well as near the theme park’s main entrance, Port of Entry, which also features a towering lighthouse and open-air bazaar. Dining options at Islands of Adventure include Café 4, Captain America Diner, Blondie’s: Home of the Dagwood Sandwich, Comic Strip Café, Wimpy’s, Burger Digs, Pizza Predattoria, Thunder Falls, Fire Eaters Grill, Mythos Restaurant, Enchanted Oak, Green Eggs and Ham, and Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous, among others.
Universal Orlando Resort
Part of Universal Orlando Resort, which also includes Universal Studios, Universal CityWalk and three world-class hotels (Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel and Royal Pacific Resort), Islands of Adventure opened in 1999. Islands of Adventure drew an estimated 5.3 million visitors in 2006. Conveniently located on Kirkman Road just off Interstate 4 (Exit 74B), Islands of Adventure offers seasonal hours, so be sure to call ahead before visiting the theme park.
