View endangered manatees and learn all about their plight at Manatee Rescue, an underwater animal habitat that cares for manatees until they are able to once again be released into the wild. Many of these gentle creatures were injured from the propellers of boats that cruise too fast through Florida waters.
Approximately 2,400 manatees (sometimes referred to as sea cows) remain in the wild and Sea World® Orlando’s animal rescue team has played a vital role in the fight to help save them from extinction. Weighing up to 2,000 pounds, Manatees are herbivores that inhabit the warm and shallow waters of Florida, as well as the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
Manatee Rescue has been named best new zoological exhibit in the United States by The American Zoological Association (AZA).
