Epcot, which originally stood for "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow," opened on October 1, 1982, as Walt Disney World Resort’s second theme park. To celebrate Epcot's 25th anniversary, Disney World scheduled several events at Epcot on October 1, 2007, including a public rededication ceremony, an exhibit hall highlighting the first 25 years of Epcot and a special "Illuminations" show.
