"The Biggest WrestleMania Under the Sun" Heads to Orlando in 2008
Billed as "The Biggest WrestleMania Under the Sun," WWE®'s 24th-annual WrestleMania pay-per-view professional wrestling event will take place on March 30, 2008, at the Citrus Bowl in downtown Orlando, Florida. Approximately 60,000 hardcore professional wrestling fans from around the world are expected to attend WrestleMania XXIV, which will be just the second WrestleMania to be held outdoors (the first being WrestleMania IX) and the first to be held in the state of Florida.
WrestleMania has evolved into one of the world's largest pop culture events. Last year's WrestleMania XXIII in Detroit, Michigan, drew approximately 80,000 fans from all 50 states, six Canadian Provinces and 24 countries. WrestleMania XXIV will feature performers from RAW, SmackDown and ECW such as John Cena, Randy Orton, Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, John "Bradshaw" Layfield, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Umaga, Edge and many more. The official theme songs for WrestleMania XXIV are "Snow ((Hey Oh))" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and "Light It Up" by Rev Theory.
Tickets for WrestleMania 24 have been on sale since November 3, 2007 (over 41,000 tickets were sold in 30 minutes!). With ticket sales already exceeding $4.4 million, WrestleMania 24 has already become the hightest grossing event in the 71-year history of the Citrus Bowl. The Central Florida Sports Commission has estimated that WrestleMania 24 will generate an estimated $25 into the Orlando economy.
Highlights of WrestleMania XXIV will include the World Heavyweight Championship (Edge vs. The Undertaker), Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship (Triple H, John Cena and Randy Orton) and a Money in the Bank ladder match. Several related wrestling events will take place throughout Central Florida during the five-day period leading up to WrestleMania such as the 2008 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony; Bacon, Bagels and Biceps Brunch; National WrestleMania Reading Challenge; and more.
Orlando area hotel rooms are filling up fast for WrestleMania XXIV and many of the area's top online hotel providers are running low on inventory.
"HotelsCorp.com still has room availability at some of our Orlando partner hotels but room availability will become scarce as WrestleMania approaches," said Kyle Collins, Director of Interactive Marketing for HotelsCorp.com, a leading online vacation provider. "So be sure to reserve a hotel room as soon as possible if you plan to attend WrestleMania XXIV."
