Universal Orlando Resort will feature Everclear as part of its ‘Velvet Sessions’ series at Hard Rock Hotel on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 6:30 PM. The group will perform all of its classic hits such as “I Will Buy You a New Life,” “Wonderful,” “Santa Monica,” “Everything to Everyone,” “A.M. Radio” and more. Velvet Sessions is Hard Rock Hotel’s special rock ‘n’ roll cocktail party and lobby concert held the last Thursday of the month (January through October). A $25 ticket includes free specialty drinks, finger foods and warm-up tunes from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Cash bars and live band from 8:30 PM onward. Tickets are $25 online (ticketing fees apply) or $30 at the door. Valet parking is complimentary for those attending Velvet Sessions, which is a 21 and older event. 4. The Simpsons Ride Ride along with the entire Simpson family – Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie – on a hilarious adventure through a side of Springfield previously unexplored. Height requirement: 40 inches.
5. Shrek 4-D
Join Shrek, Donkey and Princess Fiona on a state-of-the-art 4-D adventure as they try to escape from the ghost of Lord Farquaad, his evil sidekick, during this fun-filled thrill ride. No height restrictions.
6. Jaws
The Jaws thrill ride re-creates all the terror and excitement of the 1975 blockbuster, Jaws, as you cruise aboard a boat in the quaint New England fishing village of Amity and come face to face with a ferocious great white shark. 7. Terminator 2: 3D
Join the Terminator as you try to save planet Earth from the evil futuristic cyborgs in this amazing mix of live action, 3-D film and state-of-the-art special effects. No height restrictions.
8. Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride…Starring You Learn the secrets of disaster movies through special effects demonstrations, then board a subway train and experience the “explosive finale scene” of a movie that features a spectacular earthquake measuring 8.0 on the Richter scale. 9. E.T. Adventure Help America’s favorite extraterrestrial save his dying planet as you hop aboard a star-bound bicycle and soar across the moonlit sky! No height restrictions.
10. Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast Blast off with Jimmy Neutron and his pals on this thrilling motion simulated ride as you chase the evil Ooblar through the worlds of some of your favorite Nicktoon characters. Height requirement: 40 inches tall (stationary seating is available).
The 2010 Summer Concert Series at Universal Studios Florida will feature live performances from seven of music’s most popular artists starting June 12 and running every Saturday night through July 17, 2010. Each of the artists who will perform at the 2010 Summer Concert Series has scored top 10 hits on the Billboard charts, sold millions of albums worldwide and produced some of today’s most recognizable songs.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will tape two episodes at Univeral Orlando Resort on Sunday, March 28, 2010. Guests joining Ellen will include the always unpredictable Sharon Osbourne and Usher, who will perform both a song from his upcoming CD, Raymond v. Raymond, and one of his greatest hits. Episodes are set to air Thursday, April 1, and Friday, April 2, 2010. Ellen will her viewers inside Universal Orlando Resort and show them all of her favorite rides and attractions, including Universal’s newest thrill ride, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. Ellen also hopes to explore the highly anticipated attraction, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The tapings of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will take place on the Lagoon Stage, located at Universal CityWalk in the heart of Universal Orlando Resort. The Lagoon Stage is an outdoor, waterfront amphitheatre, seating 1,000 people and overlooking the entrance to the Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure theme parks.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is nearing completion and Harry Potter fans from all over the world will flock to Orlando this summer for INFINITUS, the first Harry Potter fan event set to take place at the Royal Pacific Resort in Universal Orlando Resort from July 15-18, 2010. Highlights of INFINITUS 2010 will include a grounded ballgame inspired by Quidditch, “wizard rock” concerts, podcasts by award-winning Harry Potter fansites, hundreds of hours of programming on topics that range from the scholarly to the amusing, a Wizarding Ball and much more! The INFINITUS preliminary schedule can be found at www.infinitus2010.org.
INFINITUS guests will include Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley in the Harry Potter films; author Joyce Sweeney, who will be conducting a writing workshop; and members of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter design/creative team. INFINITUS will also feature the premieres of at least three fan-created performances – the musical “The Final Battle,” the sequel to StarKid Potter’s award-winning “A Very Potter Musical,” and the parody film “Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise.” And, of course, INFINITUS attendees will have opportunities to explore The Wizarding World of Harry Potter accompanied by fellow fans.
10. Hogwarts Castle: A faithful re-creation of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter series, Hogswarts Castle will contain the mysterious “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride (see No. 1).
9. Hogsmeade Village: Hogsmeade will feature Ollivander’s Interactive Experience and the Hogwarts Express, as well as several Harry Potter-themed stores and restaurants.
8. The Three Broomsticks: This Harry Potter-themed dining establishment will boast traditional British fare and drinks.
7. Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods: Located within Hogwarts Castle, Filch’s Emporium will be a toy store “full of MInistry of Magic and magical creatures merchandise, Omnioculars and even remote control Golden Snitches.”
6. Hogwarts Express: Nestled between Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmeade Village, Hogswarts Express will feature “billowing steam and an iconic whistle.”
5. Hagrid’s Hut: Adjacent to the Flight of the Hippogriff roller coaster, Hagrid’s Hut will likely be a walk-through attraction themed to a re-creation of Rubeus Hagrid’s hut.
4. Ollivanders: A faithful re-creation of the wand shop in the Harry Potter series, Ollivanders promises to be an “incredible interactive experience” where” the wand chooses the wizard.”
3. Flight of the Hippogriff: A family coaster formerly known as the Flying Unicorn, the rethemed Flight of the Hippogriff will simulate a Hippogriff training flight over the grounds of Hogwarts Castle.
2. Dragon Challenge: A twin high-speed roller coaster previously known as Dueling Dragons, the rethemed Dragon Challenge will incorporate many elements from the Triwizard Tournament, according to reports.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey: Billed as a “thrilling new state-of-the-art attraction” and located in Hogwarts Castle, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is the most mysterious ride at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter but promises to “bring the magic, characters and stories of Harry Potter to life in ways never before experienced.”
Let the good times roll at Mardi Gras 2010! Universal Studios Florida boasts the largest Mardi Gras celebration outside of New Orleans – complete with a live concert series that features a diversity of musical stars, colorful parades full of floats (plenty of beads will also be thrown around!), elaborately costumed characters and delectable “Big Easy” cuisine such as jambalaya and shrimp gumbo. Mardi Gras 2010 at Universal Studios will begin on Saturday, February 6, 2010, and runs every Saturday night through Saturday, April 17, 2010, with additional dates on Sunday, February 14, 2010, and Friday, April 9, 2010.
Topping the entertainment list for Mardi Gras 2010 are such musical superstars as KC and the Sunshine Band, Heart, Kool & the Gang, Blondie, country sensation Dierks Bentley, hip-hop artist Akon, “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin, Miranda Lambert, multi-platinum selling rock band 3 Doors Down, Beach Boys (No. 1 selling American band of all time), Sheryl Crow, Flo Rida and Chicago.
The centerpiece of Mardi Gras 2010 will be the parade featuring more than a dozen colorful floats that wind around the “French Quarter Courtyard” – a replica of New Orleans’ legendary French Quarter – the heart of Mardi Gras.
The Mardi Gras 2010 celebration would not be complete without the taste of traditional Cajun and Creole cuisine such as jambalaya, gumbo and beignets, which are sure to tempt the palate of Mardi Gras revelers. Along with delicious New Orleans-style cuisine, guests can enjoy flavorful drinks made famous in New Orleans.
Mardi Gras is included in park admission to Universal Studios. Admission to Universal Studios after 5 PM on Mardi Gras event dates is $49.99 plus tax. Live concerts in the Universal Studios Mardi Gras Concert Series begin at 8:30 PM.
